Catch it, Bin it, Kill it!

Catch it, Bin it, Kill it!

It’s that time of year again when sickness in the workplace seems to affect everyone. There are some simple precautions that you can take to minimise the risk of spreading germs around the office. These include but are not limited to:-

Catch it, Bin it, Kill it – The government has had a big push on this. Providing employees with facial tissues can help. It becomes important to ensure that bins are emptied daily so that germs are not hanging around.

Washing hands – Make sure that there is plenty of soap available in toilets. A good quality soap will encourage people to use it. Also make sure that there is a method of drying hands as wet hands are more easily contaminated and harbour more germs than dry ones. Research shows that the most effective method of drying hands is using paper towels.

PC Cleaning – As a minimum, staff should be provided with sanitizer wipes to use on their keyboard. Research has found that some computer keyboards harbour more harmful bacteria than a toilet seat! A better solution for this is to have PCs professionally cleaned quarterly. This becomes even more paramount when hot desking takes place. We specialise in PC cleaning and have helped many clients to minimise risk in this area.

Hand Sanitizer – Providing sanitizer at entry points of the building is also a good idea along with signage making people aware of the importance of using it. Individual sanitizers on desks is the ideal but again education around using them is paramount.

We have vast experience of helping clients to minimise absence in this way so if we can be of any assistance, just ask!

Thanks for reading.
